Sania and Ivan Dodig lost in Mixed Doubles Finals
American Abigail Spears and her Colombian partner Juan Sebastian Cabal have each claimed their maiden Grand Slam title after ousting highly experienced second seeds Sania Mirza of India and Croatian Ivan Dodig 6-2 6-4 in the mixed doubles final at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday afternoon.
“I think all the variables just went our way,” Spears said of the match which lasted just 64 minutes. “You can’t play (this) well every day.”
“I don’t know what it takes every match, we got lucky I think,” she added. “It feels amazing playing with Juan. I wish I could have fun like that every day.”
